The Office Furniture Installer disassembles, assembles, installs, services, and configures complex office furniture and fixture systems involving multiple special devices. The Installer may provide remote technical support to core commercial installers, participate in relocation and move of furniture and equipment, and may manage installation teams on larger projects. Essential duties include reading and interpreting floor layout plans and blueprints, assembling and disassembling furniture and fixtures, mounting and dismounting furniture and equipment, following schematic wiring diagrams, testing operation of systems, reading building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints, coordinating installations with police/fire departments, assisting with facility protection processes, packing and unpacking items, carrying or dollying items within facilities and vehicles, assisting the Installation Supervisor, and performing all duties according to Suddath safety policies. Requirements include ability to read and interpret building layout plans, blueprints, schematic drawings, and manufacturers’ assembly instructions, training in proper use of tools and equipment, manufacturer certification, and a valid Driver’s license. Education/Experience required is a high school or G.E.D. degree with five to seven years related experience and/or training in office moving and furniture planning or equivalent combination. Language, math, reasoning, and computer skills are necessary. The job has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical demands include occasionally lifting/moving up to 50 pounds unassisted, close vision, ability to adjust focus, frequent reaching, occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, carrying, and climbing ladders. The work environment noise level is usually moderate.
