As a Design Engineer for gas turbine engines, you will be part of the global Engineering, Technology & Safety organization. You will develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy cutting-edge aerospace functional and physical requirements and exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability. Within your assigned propulsion system program, you’ll be responsible for developing, assessing, and delivering hardware and systems solutions that push the envelope with performance, life, and efficiency while maintaining safety and reliability. You will work to create design definitions that meet the given System/Sub-System/Component level requirements and product attributes. This role is also expected to be a leader within the group to make technical decision and lead projects with minimal management oversite. This is an exciting role where you will be able to apply your strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and understand cross-discipline engineering concepts which include, but are not limited to Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerodynamics, Thermodynamics, Performance, Stress and Lifing, Test, Cost Engineering, and Product Definition. Responsibilities include developing new component designs and design changes for high-performance gas turbine hardware and systems, performing analyses to substantiate suitability for new engine applications, presenting and defending design solutions, supporting supply chain and manufacturing issues, leading investigations of hardware issues, and leading a team of engineers to deliver engineering solutions. The role requires collaboration across cross-functional disciplines and leadership within the group. Basic requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 2+ years of experience or higher degrees in the field, and US Citizenship. Preferred qualifications include technical writing, aerospace industry experience, military customer experience, and strong leadership and communication skills.
