Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Legal Counsel to support our commercial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial and industrial real estate law. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage legal matters, provide sound legal advice, and represent the company in negotiations and litigation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development
  • Draft and review real estate contracts
  • Perform title searches and examine property titles
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of sale or lease agreements
  • Provide legal advice related to real estate transactions
  • Handle closings and ensure all legal documents are properly executed
  • Maintain accurate records of all case-related activities and communications
  • Advise on zoning and land use regulations; obtain necessary permits for property development or use
  • Litigate lawsuits on behalf of the company in different areas of the law including but not limited to municipality law, real estate law, contract law, and slander/libel/defamation
  • Advise on the tax implications of property transactions; structure deals in a tax-efficient manner

Qualifications

  • JD from accredited law school, Wisconsin Bar admission, and an active member of the Wisconsin State Bar
  • At least five years of experience in real estate law; familiarity with real estate management and investment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent negotiation skills
  • Expertise in local, state, and federal real estate laws
  • Exceptional analytical and research skills with the ability to analyze complex legal issues
  • Proficiency in using legal software and research tools
