Appalachia Service Project, Inc. (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair and replacement in Central Appalachia. ASP is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Using the skills and efforts of thousands of volunteers, ASP provides home repair and replacement to low-income households in Central Appalachia.

About the Position
The Human Resources Specialist plays a vital role within the Human Resources Department and works closely with other departments across the organization. The position holds primary responsibility for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training ASPs summer staff, fellows, and temporary staff, with an elevated focus on identifying and preparing strong candidates for summer program management positions.
During the summer, this role also oversees the implementation and management of ASPs home repair program teams and programing elements in an assigned geographic area. Responsibilities include supervising summer staff, evaluating volunteer and staff experiences, providing spiritual leadership, ensuring programmatic quality, and managing budgets.
Additionally, this role supports broader organizational hiring efforts for full-time, part-time, and contract staff across departments and any other duties and responsibilities related to the smooth running of ASPs mission and ministry.
