Your Impact As a Director of Data Science, your role will include a broad set of responsibilities to drive internal data science and product development teams, along with client-facing roles across the following topics: Provide Innovation Leadership by helping drive the innovation agenda for Retail & CPG Analytics across sciences, talent, and tools by defining analytics use cases and aligning with a partner stakeholder group on prioritization. Examples include contributing to the roadmap for analytical code innovation, bringing in additional analytical features, exploring alternative modeling or AI/ML approaches, and automating analytics at scale. Drive/oversee key architectural decisions related to Analytics, from modeling to forecasting to optimization, and evaluate the benefits and risks of different platforms and technologies, making recommendations for future use. Provide Expert Leadership on Client Projects by engaging directly with clients and consulting teams to bring expertise, shape analytics approaches, review insights, and develop client-specific recommendations. Also, coach clients and team members to adopt analytical best practices for maximum impact. Your Growth You will collaborate with our Periscope Retail and CPG solutions teams to drive analytical innovation and engage clients & McKinsey consulting teams with expert leadership. This role offers opportunities to drive industry-defining innovation and apply it to client situations for further refinement and scaling. Your Qualifications and Skills Advanced degree in applied math, economics, statistics, or related fields 10+ years in consulting, data analysis, retail pricing, or promotions Experience with advanced analytics techniques, including econometric modeling, ML models like XGBoost, decision trees, and optimization tools Experience leveraging LLM models and Agent AI to solve business problems Proficiency with statistical packages, Python, and R Experience managing a team of analysts Strong communication, influencing skills, and ability to work with all management levels Strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a client-focused approach Please review the additional requirements regarding essential job functions of McKinsey colleagues.
