Job Title: Directional Drill Operator

Location: Cohoes

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:15 AM – ~4:00 PM (Overtime as needed, including some Saturdays)

Pay: $30-$38 base with regular Prevailing Rate jobs.

Job Summary:

We are hiring an experienced Directional Drill Operator to install underground utilities such as fiber optic lines, water mains, and electrical conduits using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment. This is a full-time, outdoor position with prevailing wage opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate HDD equipment and locating systems to install underground utilities
• Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and job specifications
• Monitor bore path and adjust drilling parameters to avoid existing utilities
• Perform equipment inspections and routine maintenance
• Maintain accurate records of drilling activities
• Communicate with crew and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient operations
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience operating directional drilling equipment
• Proficient in MWD/LWD systems and rotary steerable tools
• Familiar with well planning software (e.g., WellPlan, Compass, DrillScan)
• Skilled in torque/drag analysis, hydraulics optimization, and GeoSteering
• OSHA 10 certification required

Work Environment:

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold)
• Crew sizes range from 1 to 10, reporting to a foreman or superintendent
• Overtime varies by project (2–20 hours/week)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
