Title : Design Engineer

Location : Mossville, IL

Details : 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, onsite position

Pay Rate : $28.00 – 31.00/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary

This position is an Entry to Associate level Design Engineer working to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical Design Engineer analyzes user needs, then designs, tests, and develops software to meet those needs.

The Aftermarket Enhancement Team is an end-to-end product group, collaborating across marketing, commercial, engineering design, testing and validation, supply chain, and product support. The kits developed provide functional upgrades, retrofits, or quality improvements to machines or engines at customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team leader to design aftermarket enhancement kits
  • Validate system reliability and functionality
  • Develop and execute component electrical and mechanical test plans

Team Interaction:

  • Partner with the team leader on design, testing, and validation
  • Coordinate with other Caterpillar teams on system specifications
  • Engage with the marketing team to gather requirements
  • Work with external suppliers on part costs and specifications
  • Collaborate with check and releasing teams to finalize part numbers

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Electrical Engineering (BSEE), or related fields
  • Master’s degree acceptable
  • Not open to 2-year degrees

Additional Technical Skills (Required):

  • Basic mechanical design or electronics & electrical knowledge
  • Understanding of system interaction and boundary diagrams
  • Familiarity with hardware and software development
