The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator 1 to work onsite at the UHealth campus. The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 serves as an entry level clinical research professional that has a basic foundation in clinical research through assigned responsibilities in data management or implementing clinical research protocols. This role exhibits increased learned skills and flexibility in performing duties, and assumes responsibility for simple clinical research protocols and timelines. Core job functions include performing chart review/pre-screening activities for study participant eligibility and coordination of simple clinical research protocols, maintaining enrollment procedures according to the protocol, coordinating routine activities of clinical studies including data collection and maintenance, planning study timelines, scheduling appointments and study visits, meeting scheduling, and project evaluation. The role also involves performing moderate to complex research tests/experiments and adapting procedures for quality improvement under supervision, understanding and following technical instructions for operating clinical research equipment, problem solving operational failures, assisting in observing and informing the PI/supervisor of adverse events, addressing adverse events per protocol, identifying and reporting protocol deviations and unanticipated occurrences, and following regulatory requirements. Additional department specific functions include serving as research coordinator for NIH funded clinical trial at the University of Miami, reviewing medical records of patients at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital for clinical research studies, entering abstracted data into electronic data capture systems, maintaining study files, recruiting and screening participants, obtaining informed consent, monitoring and reporting adverse events and protocol deviations, preparing IRB submissions, obtaining patient specimens, collecting data from various sources, ordering and maintaining supplies, assisting with study orientation and protocol related in-services, supporting multiple liver disease research studies, and performing other duties as assigned by the PI. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Skills needed include accuracy, attention to detail, ability to analyze and prioritize work under pressure, discretion with confidential information, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
